Palm Biomass to Furfural

Date palm trees produce huge amount of agricultural wastes in the form of dry leaves, stems, pits, seeds etc.  (Image: bioenergyconsult.com)

DalinYebo has found palm residues to be a suitable feedstock for furfural production!

The following article prompted us to review the some feedstock tests that we did a couple of years ago where we concluded that the chemical composition of palm residues makes them a suitable feedstock for furfural production. The residual lignocellulosic residue from furfural production can thereafter be used to make some of the products that the article mentions (e.g. pellets, bio-oil, syngas, etc.).
